Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about treatment, ordering, side effects, missed doses, contraception, pregnancy and ongoing support from NuVue.

Ordering & account

Answers to common questions about ordering, prescriptions, privacy and delivery.

To place an order, simply choose your treatment, complete our online medical questionnaire, and submit your request for review. If approved by one of our prescribers, your medication will be dispensed and sent directly to your door.

Our process is simple. First, you complete a quick online consultation. One of our clinicians then reviews your answers to check whether treatment is appropriate and safe for you. If approved, your medication is prescribed, dispensed, and shipped in discreet packaging.

Prescription-only treatments do require a prescription, but you do not need to get one from your GP first. Our prescribers can issue a prescription if your consultation shows the medication is suitable for you.

Payments appear on your bank statement to NuVue Health.

We take your privacy seriously. Your information is stored securely and only used for the purposes of providing your care, processing your order, and meeting our legal and regulatory obligations.

Access to your data is limited to authorised team members who need it to provide our services.

We may recommend informing your GP about your treatment so your medical record stays up to date. In some cases, and where appropriate, we may contact your GP directly, particularly if there are important safety concerns or if this forms part of our prescribing process.

Yes. All orders are sent in discreet, unbranded packaging to protect your privacy.

General questions

Common guidance on switching, side effects, dosage, illness, surgery and pregnancy.

Yes, you can request to change your treatment at any time if you feel it is no longer right for you, whether that is due to side effects or financial considerations.

You will need to submit a request for the medication you wish to switch to and explain the reason, so it can be reviewed by one of our prescribers.

Mild or moderate side effects such as nausea or a mild headache are common when starting treatment and often improve over time.

Stop taking your medication and seek urgent medical attention immediately if you experience:
  • Severe, persistent stomach pain
  • Vomiting repeatedly, or vomiting blood / coffee-ground-like material
  • Difficulty breathing or swelling of the lips, tongue or throat
  • Severe pain under the right ribcage, especially with vomiting, fever or rapid heartbeat

These may be signs of serious conditions such as pancreatitis, a severe allergic reaction or acute gallbladder problems. If this happens, call 999 or go to A&E immediately.

You can also report unwanted side effects through the Yellow Card Scheme.

Side effects are most common when you first start medication or each time your dose is increased. They usually settle down on their own within around a week.

If they continue or become difficult to manage, please contact our team.

If you are struggling with side effects, please contact us to discuss this with one of our prescribers. In some cases, it may be appropriate to reduce you back to a lower dose for longer.

These medications can increase the risk of dehydration, so it is important to drink extra fluids, especially if you have a fever, vomiting or diarrhoea.

If you have severe diarrhoea lasting more than a few days, or vomiting that prevents you from keeping food or fluids down, stop your weight loss medication and contact 111 for medical advice.

Make sure to tell the healthcare professional that you are taking weight loss medication.

You will usually have a pre-operative assessment before any procedure. Please make sure you tell the surgical team about all medications you are taking, especially weight loss medication, so they can advise you appropriately.

No. None of these medications have been safely studied in pregnancy and they are contraindicated.

If you are planning to conceive, you should stop treatment a few months before trying to become pregnant.

No. These medications have not been safely studied in breastfeeding mothers and we do not know how they may pass to a baby.

Please wait until you have fully finished breastfeeding before starting treatment.

Medication guidance

Product-specific advice on injections, missed doses and contraception.

Small lumps after an injection are common and usually disappear on their own.

Make sure you rotate your injection site each time and change the needle with every administration.

If the lump does not go away, continues to grow, or becomes more painful, please see your GP.

Wegovy

There is currently no evidence that Wegovy reduces the effectiveness of oral contraception.

Mounjaro

  • Use barrier contraception for 4 weeks after starting Mounjaro
  • Use barrier contraception for 4 weeks after each dose increase
  • If vomiting occurs within 3 hours of taking the pill, follow missed pill guidance
